StepOne™is an on-line system for health care organizations preparing an application for the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®.

Why should I use StepOne?
The application for ANCC Magnet Recognition is a comprehensive undertaking that will require the the participation of individuals from across your entire organization. A part of the process is the collection and reporting of demographic data, a task that can be achieved by the use this on-line application. Without StepOne, the individual managing the Magnet application process will have to cope with reams of paper, multiple sources of information, and time consuming data input. With StepOne, data collection is easily implemented and report generation is automated.

What is the Magnet Demographic Information Spreadsheet?
ANCC requires the submission of demographic information from all Magnet applicants. The Demographic Information Spreadsheet provided by ANCC helps in the preparation of this data. This spreadsheet provides a comprehensive picture of your organization's Nursing care, and can require the input of over 1,400 cells of data. Instead of inputting this information manually, data is generated automatically, drawing on the individual information submitted by nursing personnel and placed into the spreadsheet for you.

Is StepOne™ licensed by the ANCC?
StepOne™ is under license from American Nurses Credentialing Center to provide demographic data for the Magnet Recognition Program®.

What are the technical requirements?
All that is needed to operate the StepOne system is a computer with internet access and an internet browser (IE 5.0 or better, Netscape 4.0 or better). If you can see this page, you should be ready to go. In order to complete the Nursing Questionnaire at work or home, your nursing personnel will need temporary use of a computer with internet access.

How much time does a nurse questionnaire take?
A nurse can complete a StepOne questionnaire in approximately 10 minutes.

How much does StepOne cost?
StepOne is an online subscription service. The online nature of this system allows for the continuous upgrading of StepOne to meet the changing requirements of the ANCC Magnet Recognition application process. Because the data is collected and maintained on our application servers, the size of a health organization impacts the level of resources that are required. Do I need StepOne after my organization achieves Magnet recognition?
ANCC requires Interim Demographic reporting every year for organizations which have received Magnet status. The interim reporting capabilities of StepOne will make it easy for you to provide these regular reports, as well as to meet Magnet Recognition requirements for re-certification.
